Blue is a handsome 2-year-old dachshund with a smooth dapple tan and white coat. He weighs about 18 pounds and he has the most striking blue eyes. Blue is a friendly guy who loves everyone. He gets along with all dogs regardless of size and cats. He cuddles up with his foster mom’s kitty whenever he can.

Blue is house trained so long as he goes outside regularly. Although he is crate trained, it isn’t his favorite place to spend time. If he must be left at home alone in his crate, he will bark long and loud. A home with shared walls would not be a good fit for him. Blue would prefer to have at least one person at home most of the time, but it is not a necessity.

Blue enjoys spending time outside exploring his backyard and engaging in recreational digging. He doesn’t dig to run off. He would prefer a home with a fenced yard, but a yard is not a necessity. Blue is learning how to go for walks on his leash. He doesn’t love traveling in cars and might whine from time-to-time. But, he gets used to it and will travel as far as his human wants to go.

Blue is an avid “foodie”. He isn’t food aggressive, but he eats everything in his bowl and then moves on to take food from other dogs’ bowls. He also enjoys human food whenever he can get access to it.

When we asked his foster what she likes most about Blue, she said that he is fun, playful, and gets along with everyone. He is the biggest snuggle bug and he has the most stunning blue eyes.

Blue is currently living in Columbia, SC with his foster mom Sabrina. For more information, please contact her at sabrinasnipes1011@yahoo.com . If you would like to adopt Blue, please complete an adoption application form by clicking on

The adoption fee for Blue is $325.00. If the dog is adopted over a state line, there will be an additional charge for a health certificate (required by law) of anywhere between $45.00 and $100.00. The amount depends upon what the veterinarian charges LPDR.

Transportation Help: If you see a furbaby that is a match for your family, don't let distance stand in your way of adoption. LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport or refer you to a paid transport.

Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by state departments of agriculture that may include a short stay in quarantine. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue and some dogs going to New England states may be charged an additional $175.00 to cover costs of compliance.
