Sunny is an adorable 2-year-old dachshund/chihuahua mix with a short chocolate and tan coat. She weighs about 12 pounds. Sunny has a wonderful joyful personality. She’s affectionate, cuddly, always happy, and loves to play. She is the kind of dog that will fit into most families. She loves attention and would be happiest in a home in which at least one person is home most of the time.
Sunny is house trained and uses pee pads if she can’t get outside. Sunny is crate trained but is not fond spending time there. She can be trusted to roam freely when no one is home provided that all food is put away and out of reach including anything that might be tasty in the trash can. She is not a vocal dog and will be fine living in any type of home including a townhouse or apartment.
Sunny enjoys playing and chasing squirrels in her foster mom’s backyard. She would love to have a securely fenced yard or dog park to explore when she moves to her new home. Sunny has not had much experience walking on leash and will some need training so that she can become a good walking companion. Car rides are not her favorite things to do and sometimes does a bit of whining. But she’ll do whatever it takes to be with her people and settles in.
Sunny likes humans and does well with strangers that enter her home or that she meets on outside. She gets along with children too. Sunny likes other dogs and has made friends with her foster mom’s 6-year-old dachshund. We don’t know what she thinks about cats.
When we asked her foster mom what she likes most about Sunny, she said that Sunny is always happy. She loves to cuddle, play, and eat. She can be a couch potato one moment and then run the zoomies the next. As long as she is near her people, she is content.
Sunny is currently living in Charlotte, NC with her foster mom Ashley. For additional information, please contact her at agj@carolina.rr.com. If you would like to adopt Sunny, please complete an adoption application form by clicking on https://www.littlepawsdr.org/adoption/adoption-applications/.
The adoption fee for Sunny is $325.00. If the dog is adopted over a state line, there will be an additional charge for a health certificate (required by law) of anywhere between $45.00 and $100.00. The amount depends upon what the veterinarian charges LPDR.

Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by state departments of agriculture that may include a short stay in quarantine. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue and some dogs going to New England states may be charged an additional $175.00 to cover costs of compliance.
