Penny is an absolute love! She’s 22 lbs and 7 years old, with an easygoing temperament. She came to us with bladder stones when her owner could no longer care for her. This caused some urinary problems but now that she has had the stones removed she has no potty issues and is eager to please. She’s looking for a balanced household where she can be a snuggly couch potato but still get some outdoor time, as she loves to be outdoors with her humans and calm energy doggo friends.

Environment

Penny is house trained and prefers to do her business on short walks. On walkies she will bark at new dogs from afar, but loves them once they’ve met. She would love a yard but she doesn’t need a fence. Penny would do just fine in a home with shared walls as she’s mostly reserved, she only really barks if startled. Penny cannot do stairs and would need to be carried up and down any stairs in the home.

Pets & People

Penny loves other dogs who present with a calm energy and who play gently. She doesn't have confidence with larger dogs with a lot of energy. Most of all Penny loves people. She welcomes new friends into her home and heart easily, especially if they have a good lap! She’s good around children, but needs careful handling due to past IVDD. Penny would would be fine with a companion doggo in the house to do occasional zoomies with, but she also likes her rest time, so definitely not a super active young pup. Penny would also be fine as an only-dog. She does have some prey drive and will give chase to squirrels and rabbits, so no small animals in the home. 

Health

Penny underwent bladder stone surgery, and she needs to remain on a prescription diet to prevent further bladder stones. It is a good idea for her to remain on her joint/disc supplements due to her previous IVDD, and of course no couch jumping or stairs.

Penny is available for adoption from Saugus, MA. Because she is not in love with car rides we are looking for a home within 3ish hours of her foster home.
