Buddy is a 32 lb. dachshund mix who is approximately 7-8 years old with a very youthful personality. He is intelligent, funny, and easy-going and he’s looking for a young active family committed to on-going training.

Environment

Buddy is house trained and knows how to use a pee pad, but he’s not crate trained as he prefers to have room to roam. He’s very interested in all things—a ball, an animal, a visitor, other dogs, so he needs a home with a securely fenced yard. He’s very intent on getting to what he wants whatever that may be, and he does not give up when he sees something he wants. Buddy doesn’t bark much unless there’s something he can’t get to.

Buddy will need a family who will keep working on his leash walking as he pulls quite a bit and a family willing to work on getting Buddy to give up something he should not have (ex: a child’s stuffed toy). Buddy’s a fun and entertaining guy to have around, even when he’s willful he’s funny with it!

Pets & People

Buddy is excellent around other dogs, around children and adults of all varieties and loves to be sociable. He also wants to “play” with the squirrels, but we wouldn’t advise it. He’s not interested in being the leader of the pack, he just wants to be everyone’s buddy. 

Buddy’s pretty keen on his food, loves to “help” when it’s being dished out, and has been known to assist other dogs when they don’t finish. This hasn’t caused any issues in his foster home as his foster sisters are all speedy eaters, but it could be something to keep an eye on depending on the personalities of the other dogs in the home.
