Overview

Meet Brown Sugar, a sweet and affectionate purebred dachshund looking for a patient forever home. This chocolate and tan charmer weighs 17 pounds and is 4 years old. Brown Sugar came to Little Paws after his previous owner passed away, and his family member was unable to provide him a proper home.

Environment

Brown Sugar is a social pup who loves nothing more than being close to his people - in fact, he'll hop right into your lap as soon as you sit down! He has medium energy level and enjoys short walks and playtime, though he's still learning his leash manners. When he's not exploring the back yard, he will spend the rest of his time with you on the couch or playing with his toys.  While a yard would be nice for him, it isn't a requirement. Due to being quite vocal, he needs a home without shared walls with neighbors.  He has severe separation anxiety and does not like being crated, so he’d do best where his people are home more often than not.

Pets & People 

Brown Sugar is okay around other dogs but isn't playful with them. Due to his strong food guarding behavior, he must be fed separately from other pets or he will get aggressive.  Brown Sugar loves going on walks and meeting people.  He can be a little nervous at first, but some petting and affection will always win him over.  He's even good with people visiting his home, although he'll bark when they knock on the door.

Health

Brown Sugar has just been neutered and has no other known medical issues.
