Overview

Meet Eloise, a sweet chocolate Dachshund/Chiweenie mix who will steal your heart with her loving personality!

She is a petite 7 lb sweetheart who's approximately 7-8 years old. She was surrendered to a shelter before finding her way to Little Paws Rescue. Despite her vision impairment, Eloise just wants to trust and be loved. Her foster mom describes her as "a ball of cuteness overload and the sweetest baby." She's submissive and gentle, making her an easy addition to most homes willing to accommodate her special needs. This little girl has a big heart and is ready to find her forever family.

Environment

Eloise knows to potty outside with consistent routine and regular breaks. Her foster mom uses washable pee pads in her pen when she's away, but reports Eloise has only used them once! She has medium energy and enjoys short walks and playtime. Her visual impairment means she benefits from a stable environment with a fenced yard where she can safely explore.

Eloise is comfortable in a pen setup rather than a traditional crate. She can be left alone for short periods but would thrive in a home where someone is present more often than not, as her limited vision can make extended alone time challenging for her.

Eloise is a tiny bundle of joy who loves to snuggle and would happily sit in your lap for hours. She also enjoys cuddling next to you in bed. She has a unique way of communicating her needs—she'll "chat" with a soft little whine to let you know when she wants to be picked up, needs to go potty, or is feeling a bit anxious and needs some comfort. These vocalizations are gentle and not disruptive, making her suitable for homes with shared walls.

Pets & People

This tiny bundle of joy is wonderful with all people, though her small size and vision challenges make her best suited for homes with older, gentle children who understand her special needs. A perfect home might be with a retired couple looking for a loving lapdog or someone who's home frequently to provide the extra TLC she needs.

Eloise is great with strangers, though she may be initially apprehensive due to her vision limitations. Once she feels safe, she happily snuggles up to new people. She's currently living with three other dogs and tries to follow them around, showing her sweet submissive nature. She would love to be part of a pack family with small dogs.

Health

Eloise is blind or has very limited vision, which will be confirmed by an eye specialist. Despite this challenge, she's adapting remarkably well to her surroundings. Her condition requires some special considerations—she may be startled if touched suddenly, so approaching her gently is important. 

She is learning to walk on a harness and really enjoys a stroller ride. She's happy roaming around in a fenced yard, always supervised due to her tiny size.

Location

Eloise is available for adoption from Florence, SC. She travels well in the car and recently made a trip from sitting comfortably in the passenger's lap with a seatbelt.
