Hi, I’m Rocky and I’m a wild boar male dachshund. I don’t think that’s right because I’m not wild at all and I’m certainly not boring. They should just call me a pretty boy dachsie with red and black fur and a brilliant white necktie because that’s what I look like. I was rescued by the nice people at Little Paws a few weeks ago. I was living outside in a place called Alabama and all they wanted me and my fellow dachshunds to do was to make little dachshunds. We weren’t very happy there because we were kept in cages and couldn’t run around and play with each other. When they rescued us from that place, they sent us all to see a doctor in South Carolina. He checked me out and said I am a healthy prized specimen!!! He gave me some shots and neutered me...that WAS NOT fun. After leaving the doctor’s place they said I was going to meet my new foster parents, Tom and Linda. I really love my foster mom and dad, and would you believe besides my fellow rescue Rhett and myself, there are 6 other dachshunds there and we are all free to walk around and play whenever we want! There is a big back yard here and I love to run and play outside with the other four leggers that live here. Today Dad took me on ‘a walk’ with Timmie, one of my foster brothers. Dad put a harness and leash on Timmie and me and we went out the front door. There was no fence, just grass and trees and bushes as far as I could see. At first I didn’t know what to do so I followed Timmie...he’s pretty smart for a little wiener dog. We walked and walked and walked and Dad said I did real well on the leash, at least when I wasn’t trying to eat the leash. I think I’ll probably stop trying to eat the leash because it really doesn’t taste to good. We get to eat twice a day at our foster home and the food is real good. We get a cookie and fruit and peanut butter with something they call glucosamine in it every day. It really is good. Sometimes I growl at my brothers and sisters if they get too close to my bowl when I’m eating. If I get done before them and Mom and Dad aren’t watching I try to steal some of their food. They say that this is aggressive, I say it’s fun. This is the first time in my life that I have lived inside and not been in a cage all day. I didn’t know I wasn’t supposed to go potty in the house and I’m really trying not to. Sometimes I forget and I’m still working on that. Mom and Dad say they are happy with the progress I’ve made in the two weeks I’ve lived here, not only with the potty thing but also because I’m not nearly as afraid as when I first got here. I really love to sit with my Mom and Dad, and snuggling up at night with them and my 7 brothers and sisters in that big bed is really neat. I like having other four leggers here but it would be ok if I was the only one getting all the love and attention. Mom and Dad say I’m ready to find a forever home with a family who will have some patience with me until I remember about that outdoor potty thing all time. I promise I’ll keep trying real hard and I have a lot of love I want to give to you. Do you have some for me?
