Adoption Fee:  $400.00 + $35.00 for a health certificate if going over state lines (required by law).  Leo's $400 fee includes a $125 fee for the mandatory quarantine period required by law in MA, NH and ME. 
 

Leo is an extremely handsome 2.5 year old male brown and white Dachshund with long hair. He and two siblings were owner surrenders. Since he stayed in a home and the belonging back yard his whole life, he is still a bit shy and timid when it comes to exploring the world and especially meeting other dogs. But he opens up more with every day and enjoys walks in the neighborhood or in nature. He is such a friendly little companion, sometimes a little melancholic,  that loves being with his human most of the time and attaches to his handler very strong and loyal. He is currently working on his crate training and goes in there to sleep and while someone is around but still has to learn to stay alone at home. He will sleep in the open crate or the doggie bed on the floor but really enjoys sleeping in the big bed close to you. He likes kids and is very interested in them, also likes driving in the car together but the really best for him is just cuddling on the sofa with you, relaxing and giving you a lot of kisses. He doesn’t like cats at all and would try to chase them. He sometimes barks at strangers and still needs to learn some rules.

Leo would do best in a quiet and steady home that had a fenced yard and with people (or other calm dogs) around him most of the time. He is housebroken and well behaved at home and does not need much excercise. He still needs time to get used to live in another home and needs his new forever family giving him a lot of patience and love so that he can bloom and show his true self.  Please consider making brave little Leo a part of your family and fill out an adoption application today!

If you see a furbaby that would be a match for your family, please don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption.  LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation or refer you to a paid transport.
