Adoption Fee:  $275.00 + $35.00 for a health certificate if going over state lines (required by law).  Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by the state departments of agriculture. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue, and all dogs adopted in New England states are subject to an additional $125 fee to help cover a portion of these expenses.

Piper is a young adult Chiweenie+ (the + is because there are probably some other genes hanging around in there too!) with far more personality than her 9lb. size would suggest! She loves kids and other dogs and is always eager to play, but she also loves to cuddle up with her human whenever she can! Unlike many dogs that like to curl up into a lap, Piper prefers to drape herself over her human, kind of like she’s trying to melt into you! She has piercing hazel eyes that just draw you in, and somewhere in her bloodline is a championship jumper – she can jump straight up in the air, something that looks very funny given her dachshund body!
Piper came into rescue very sick and emaciated, but you would never know that today. She is sturdy, healthy, and extremely smart! She currently lives with three foster siblings, and she is usually the leader of the pack in terms of following house rules and knowing what comes next. She really likes to please her humans and is eager to be praised when she does something right. She is crate-trained and mostly housetrained, though she isn’t happy to be left alone for long periods (and will let you know that with strategically placed "presents.") Piper would do best in a home with at least one other dog and human family members that like to play.

TRANSPORTATION HELP!

If you see a furbaby that would be a match for your family, please don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption.  LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation or refer you to a paid transport.
