Adoption Fee: $275.00 + $50.00 for a health certificate if going over state lines (required by law). Dogs adopted in New England are subject to additional rules and regulations by the state departments of agriculture. Complying with these regulations is expensive for our rescue, and all dogs adopted in New England states are subject to an additional $125 fee to help cover a portion of these expenses.
Ranger (approx 2 yrs old) was quick to adjust in his foster home. I would say he will make an easy adjustment with his forever family. He does well with my cat as he really just ignores him. I have 4 grandchildren that range in age from 2 to 9 and he gets along fine with them. I also currently have a Pit Bull here that THINKS she is a dachshund and Ranger does fine with her as well. If you are looking for a furbaby that has the 3 L's: Loveable, Loyal and Lapdog, then this is the fella for you. I have honestly been quite surprised that he does not bark when someone comes in the door and we have a lot of foot traffic in our house.
Ranger was surrendered to Little Paws with his brother Patches because his family has fallen on hard times and they wanted to make sure he received the good home he deserves. He was recently neutered so we are still working on "marking" issues but with time that should stop. (Belly Bands are great to use while in training period.)
Ranger's color pattern is quite unique. He is a brindle but is black with red stripes. Very handsome. Ranger does not seem to mind the rain (and we have had it straight now for 2 weeks.) He actually stayed out in the drizzle rain for about 15 minutes just exploring.
He does like to chew on things so you will need to be mindful and keeps valuables high. He has decapitated several of my grandson's Ninja Turtles. He loves chew bones and cow hoofs. The puzzle treat toys as well. He will also go in a crate. He sleeps in a bed beside my bed but would love to sleep in the big bed.
RI RESIDENTS – At this time we are not registered with this state and are unable to adopt to residents. The process to register is lengthy and will take some time. We are currently working on this process TRANSPORTATION HELP! If you see a furbaby that would be a match for your family, please don’t let distance stand in the way of your adoption. LPDR can work with you to have a volunteer transport to assist with transportation or refer you to a paid transport.
