My name is Dottie and my foster mom says I am such a good girl that most of the time she doesn't even know I am here. I love to get a few hugs and to be petted, but I am kind of a loner and will go off and find a spot to rest. You see, I was rescued by a really nice couple who saw me living in a thift store. During the floods, I was left in the thrift store where I had given birth to a puppy but because of my own health issues, the puppy died. When they got me to Little Paws, I had 3 very large mammory tumors, bad teeth and I was heartworm positive. At first they were very very sad because they thought I had a very bad thing called cancer. A very special vet took care of me and removed the tumors, spayed me and cleaned and removed my bad teeth. However, because Little Paws is just the best, they wanted to know for sure if I had cancer. So, my foster mom took me to a specialist in Charleston who took pictures of me because she said I was a beautiful girl. Then they said that I did not have cancer. Little Paws then made sure I got the necessary heartworm treatment. My foster mom says she can tell that I am feeling soooo much better because I want to eat everything in the house and I have put on some weight. I still don't like the leash too much, but foster mom says I should catch on quickly. My foster mom tells me all the time that she really loves me and how sweet I am and she is so glad I was rescued but she knows I will find the best home and then she can continue to save more dogs just like me. My favorite place to lay is on my foster mom's dirty clothes. She intentionally leaves some on the floor just for me. I also love love love socks so if you find them scattered around your house, I confess, that is me. I just can't help myself.
I am pee pad trained and have realized I must go outside and do well if given treats, but it isn't my best place to go. My foster mom says it depends on my mood and she doesn't know why but sometimes I will go out willingly and just sit in the yard and other times I dig my heels in and do not want to go. However, my foster mom is says I am doing so much better with this and she thinks with a little more time and patience, I will be a pro.
I have finished the heartworm treatment and will need to be retested again in about 4 months but I know I am heartworm negative because I feel so much better.
If you would like to contact my foster mom about me you can contact her at sjoynermitchell@gmail.com. I am currently in Gilbert, SC but transport can be arranged.
